Stanley Bernard Benton (born July 24, 1978 ), known by his stage name Stat Quo, is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. He was signed to Shady Records and Aftermath in February 2003 after being discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre through his Underground Atlanta mixtape. He left the labels in October 2008.
He appears as a featured artist on the albums Encore and Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, the latter which features his solo tracks "By My Side", "Tryna Ta' Win", "Get Low", and the bonus track "Billion Bucks". He also appears on the leaked song "Syllables" from the scrapped Eminem album King Mathers.
Incidents[]
2005 Anger Management tour bus crash[]
On July 13, 2005, Stat Quo, his manager, and The Alchemist were injured in a tour bus accident during Eminem’s Anger Management tour. The incident occurred on Interstate 70 near Kansas City, Missouri, when the tour bus, reportedly traveling at around 90 mph, swerved to avoid a pair of semi-trucks. The bus driver lost control, swerved off the road and overturned after colliding with a truck.
Stat Quo and his manager both suffered broken ribs, with the manager also sustaining a broken ankle. They were treated at the Independence Regional Health Center.[1]
"Dance On It" hook dispute[]
In 2007, Eminem wrote a hook for Stat's song "Dance On It", wanting him to perform the hook. However, Stat wasn't a fan of the hook, and insisted Em stayed on it. Stat then jokingly said he would put the song out on the condition he is given 1 million dollars. According to Dr. Dre, this made Eminem quite angry. He apologized to Em the next day, with tears in his eyes, but Em did not fully accept the apology. Stat claims this is the reason the original version of the album didn't release under Shady Records. In retrospect, Stat called himself a "dummy idiot" for arguing with Em about it.[2]
Shady Records and Aftermath departure[]
Frustrated with his debut album Statlanta facing numerous delays, he left Shady Records and Aftermath in October 2008. That same year he released the song "Dear Summer - Part 2" in which he raps about his departure in depth. In it, he also claims he sent Eminem a card and a "porno" while he was recovering from his methadone overdose.[3]
Stat Quo later released Statlanta independently in 2010. Two songs featuring Eminem originally intended for the project leaked in 2010: "Testify", which transitions into the next song, "The Next One". The tracks appear to have been recorded in 2004.

HipHopDX reported in 2007 that a song called "Memory Lane" had involvement from Eminem and would release on Statlanta[4], though the song never released. The same year, Stat Quo claimed in an interview that he and Em recorded a song about smoothies, since they would get smoothies everyday at the time.[5]
