Shawn Corey Carter (born December 4, 1969) known professionally as Jay-Z, is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, and businessman. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists in history.[1][2] Jay-Z’s career spans over three decades, during which he has released numerous critically acclaimed albums.[3][4]
The famous collaboration between Jay-Z and Eminem, "Renegade", originally began as a Bad Meets Evil track in 1999. Eminem's verses and the instrumental remained largely the same as The Blueprint version, though the beat was more stripped-down. Initially slated for Royce da 5'9"'s album Rock City, the record label stated that only one Eminem feature per album was allowed, and thus the other Eminem collab "Rock City" was chosen over "Renegade".[5] In 2001, "Renegade" was passed to Jay-Z for his album The Blueprint, sans Royce's involvement.
Jay-Z and Eminem collaborated on the video game DJ Hero, which featured a special edition titled DJ Hero: Renegade Edition, released on October 27, 2009. This edition included an exclusive two-CD set with greatest hits and deep-cuts from both artists, as well as a turntable controller and a carrying case. The two artists performed live together celebrating the game at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on June 2, 2009.[6]
"Syllables", a song recorded in 2007 featuring Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Stat Quo, and Ca$his from the scrapped Eminem album King Mathers, leaked online in 2010.
Jay-Z and Eminem performed "Renegade" live during the "Home & Home" tour in 2010. The tour included performances at Yankee Stadium in New York and Comerica Park in Detroit.
